The Communal Bibliothéque of Tubuai was eventually closed and I was quick to ask the Mairie if I could use this room to create a small Museum, and after some months they agreed.
This was a spacious second story room that was completely empty. I quickly decided to order a good many large 2x12x 20ft planks of good quality New Zealand pine that was in a semi finished state, this meant hand sanding them all but was cheaper in the long run. I needed a lot of sand paper and gallons of varathane polyurethane to make them resistant. My plan was to make bookshelves and desks with these planks and slotted angle iron. I bought tools to cut the angle iron, nuts and bolts and spent the next few months putting it all together in my time off.
